THORP SPECIAL OLYMPIAN HEADING BACK TO WORLD GAMES

An area special Olympian is making a return trip to the 2005 Special Olympics World Winter Games. 27-year-old Carolyn Voelker of Thorp will first attend a training camp for nearly 200 Team USA special Olympians in Colorado and then – in a couple months - it’s off to Nagano, Japan for the World Games. Voelker is a veteran of the World Games. She attended the 1995 World Games in Connecticut, the 2000 Pre-World Games in Alaska and the 2003 World Summer Games in Ireland where she earned two silver medals in the 1500m and 3000m run.
