FEW CHANGES EXPECTED FOR M & I BANK CUSTOMERS

Customers shouldn’t expect a lot of changes as Wisconsin’s largest bank is sold this year.

Pending regulatory approval, M & I Bank will be sold to Candada-based Harris Bank this year. The transaction should be complete by July.

Al Nystrom is President of the M & I Marshfield group, which includes locations in Marshfield, Loyal and Neillsville.

"I don't think they'll see a lot of changes," Nystrom. "It will be the same bankers serving the same people at the same branches around central Wisconsin. We may end up with some minor changes to what we call 'account titles,' but really, we don't see any significant changes."

Some decisions haven’t been made yet. For instance, if local M & I branches will change their names.

"That has not been decided. That's a very common question. It will be up to our board to decide if we want to continue to have Harris and M & I as two separate banks. That decision hasn't been decided yet," says Nystrom.

It is unlikely Harris will decide to close any branches, noting there’s almost no “overlap” between the two banks. Harris’ banks are concentrated in Illinois and Indiana.
