HERRICK TAKES OVER AT SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT

New Clark County Sheriff Greg Herrick officially moved into his office this morning, replacing Louis Rosandich, who had been Sheriff since January 1, 2001.
Herrick says the transition has been a good one.
"It's wonderful. It's a great honor and I'm very humbled," Herrick says. "I worked with Sheriff Rosandich and he prepared two or three sheets of documentation for me: things for me to do and not do, things to follow. It was wonderful."
As with any new job, Herrick says there will be a learning curve, but he doesn’t foresee any problems.
"It's always a learning experience. I always say life is a learning experience. We can try some new things, if we don't like them we can adjust," he says.
Herrick says he plans to make some small adjustments to the function of the administrative staff. The department’s also implementing a new canine unit. He wants to have the changes implemented by the Memorial Day weekend.
