SCHOOL TAXES UP

Wisconsin public school taxes are up 3.4% this year. The increase is less than the 6% jump in 2009 and is the smallest change since taxes dropped a half a percentage point in 2006.
The average school tax rate is $9.11 for every $1,000 in property value. That is up 55 cents from last year.
The tax rate was affected by an overall 3% drop in the property values.
School taxes have gradually increased since 1996.
