A longtime Neillsville teacher and church treasurer is facing more charges.
62-year-old John Roenz was already charged with stealing around $140,000 from Calvary Lutheran Church since 2003. On Friday, Clark County District Attorney Darwin Zwieg filed six counts of income tax fraud. According to the criminal complaint, officials with the Wisconsin Department of Revenue claim Roenz failed to report the money he embezzled, in essence, shorting the state of over $8,000 in income taxes.
Each of the six felonies carries a maximum penalty of six years behind bars and $10,000 in fines.
Roenz will make his initial appearance on the charges on January 26th.
