There was a house fire in the Town of Weston Thursday afternoon.

According to Neillsville Fire Chief Matt Meyer, the crew was called out at about 1:45 p.m. to a home at N6930 Larson’s Avenue, which is Northwest of HOG corners.

Upon arrival, they found heavy smoke pouring from the building and visible flames.

They fought the fire for about 3 hours. They were able to save the structure, but the home suffered quite a bit of smoke and water damage.

The Greenwood Fire Department offered tanker assistance.

Meyer believes a woodstove triggered the fire.

The American Red Cross assisted the family with sleeping arrangements.
