SUDER FOCUSING REPUBLICANS
Saturday, November 27th, 2010 -- 8:16 am
Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

As the soon-to-be Majority Leader in the State Assembly, Rep. Scott Suder is quietly trying to keep his members focused on the economy, not on social issues like abortion and concealed carry. That’s according to a report in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that says the Abbotsford Republican has been making phone calls to his party-mates trying to get them to stay on task, but some say they intend to press ahead to legalize concealed weapons, pass tough new immigration restrictions and eliminate domestic partner benefits. Republican leaders are trying to walk a tightrope, knowing their base is adamant about wanting social change, but polls show 73% of Wisconsinites say jobs, economy, budget and debt were the most important issues facing the state. Only 2% named immigration and just 1% said abortion.
