There were 3 first time winners at the Resch Center in Green Bay on Saturday at the State Girls Volleyball Championships.


Kaukauna Earns First Championship
Kaukauna turned the tables in 2010, defeating Muskego in the championship match in Division 1. Muskego defeated Kaukauna for the championship last year. Jenni Fassbender led four players with double digit kills for the Galloping Ghosts with 22. Maria Van Abel led defensively with 32 digs, and McKinzie Freimuth had 59 assists.
Kaukauna (33-7) def. Muskego (34-12) 25-23, 14-25, 25-18, 24-26, 15-11



Catholic Memorial Captures Second Straight Crown
Catholic Memorial successfully defended its title by upending Madison Edgewood in the Division 2 championship game. It gives the Crusaders their third title in the last five years. Mackenzie Reese recorded a match high 16 kills and Ashley Ring added 11 kills to lead the Crusader's attack. Olivia Dittman assisted 42 of the team's 49 kills.

Racine St. Catherine's Wins Division 3 Championship
Racine St. Catherine's bounced back from a loss in the first game of the match to win the next three and win the program's first State girls volleyball championship over defending champion Grantsburg. Abby and Haley Jeffcoat comblined to record 33 kills to lead the Angels. Kathleen Omelina shined defensively with nine blocks, including three solos.

Highland Wins Division 4 Title
Highland won its first girls volleyball State championship with a four-game win over Catholic Central in the Division 4 championship match. Senior Kendall Wienkes powered the Cardinals with 27 kills, tied for third-most in a Division 4 tournament, four-game match. Her 50 kills in the tournament ranks tied for fourth since tournament records began. Senior teammate Rachel Aide set a Division 4 match record for assists with 51.
