THEY'VE GOT COATS, NOW ORGANIZERS HOPE FOR A GOOD TURNOUT

Organizers of an effort to hook up area kids with warm winter clothing say they hope area families take advantage of the event.
Amanda Hensiak is one of the organizers of Coats For Kids. She says warm clothing is something most of us take for granted, but not all families are so fortunate—especially during this tough economic time. Over 500 coats were donated and distributed last year, and the donations have been streaming in again this year.
"Even last week we picked up a large donation in Neillsville where someone actually went out and bought new coats. We got six bags from Shopko. Just brand new coats and snowpants," Hensiak says.
There will be two distribution dates. The first will be at the Neillsville American Legion this Saturday, October 30th from 10 to 2. The second will be at the Loyal High School on Saturday, November 6th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Hensiak hopes families will take advantage of area residents’ generosity.
"We've had the word out in the schools. We're just hoping people don't forget about us," she says.
Banks and churches in Neillsville and Loyal are still accepting donations of all sizes of coats, hats, gloves and snow pants. They should be new or in good condition.
