WINDSTORM WILL PACK A PUNCH
Monday, October 25th, 2010 -- 9:40 am
Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

Forecasters think a windstorm tomorrow could rival a similar storm in 1998 that killed four people in the state.

The National Weather Service has already issued a Strong Wind Watch for tomorrow, but state on their website that it will be upgraded to a warning later today.

An extremely powerful low-pressure system is moving toward the area. It’s expected to churn up sustained southwest winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts of up to 60 mph. That will be strong enough to break off some serious limbs and possibly topple trees and power lines.

Forecasters expect the winds will increase rapidly early tomorrow morning and last through Wednesday night.
