A 7th Congressional District candidate who lost his bid for the Republican nomination in last month's primary says he plans to run as a write-in candidate.

Dan Mielke, an organic dairy farmer in Rudolph, was defeated Sept. 14 by former Ashland County District Attorney Sean Duffy 41,032 to 21,100 votes.

He told The Daily Press in Ashland that people are frustrated with the primary voting system and won't vote in November.

Mielke had previously said he would endorse the Duffy candidacy if Duffy signed an affidavit agreeing to six items, including opposing all laws legalizing abortions. But Mielke says Duffy didn't sign it.
