DAMAGE ESTIMATE CONTINUES TO GROW

The damage estimate to Clark County’s infrastructure from last week’s flood continues to grow.

Clark County Emergency Management Director Michelle Hartness says municipal officials from around the county had their last meeting about the flood yesterday.

So far, the county has counted about $610,000 in damage to public roads and other infrastructure, but there are still several municipalities that need to report.

Plus, the county has targeted at least five bridges that need to be inspected because of potential flood damage.

There are still at least 9 town roads that are closed. County Road “I” was reopened yesterday; that was the last county road to come back on board.

All boat landings on the Black River remain closed until further notice.

About 40 individuals have reported flood damage.

The county will deliver their 3rd report to state emergency management officials tomorrow. From that point, a formal request could be made for a Presidential Disaster Declaration, which could open up federal money to repairs.
