DUFFY WANTS 20(!) DEBATES

The debate schedule for candidates in Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District could end up being a little hectic in the next six weeks, if the Republican nominee in the race gets his way.

Former Ashland County District Attorney Sean Duffy is challenging Democratic nominee Julie Lassa to 20 debates before the November general election. That would amount to one debate in each of the district’s 20 counties.

Duffy says the debates would give the public a chance to hear from the candidates and meet them directly, instead of just seeing them in sound bites on TV. He says voters deserve to hear all sides of the issues.

While she won’t commit to the proposal right now, Lassa says it’s something she will seriously consider and address in the future.

Duffy and Lassa are running to take over the seat currently held by retiring U.S. Representative Dave Obey (D-WI).
