'COATS FOR KIDS' TAKES DONATIONS

For the 2nd year in a row, organizers are collecting coats and other winter clothing for those in need.

"The first year went better than expected," says Amanda Hensiak, one of the organizers of Coats For Kids. "We received hundreds of coats and we had hundreds of people turn out for the event, so we're going to do it again this year."

In fact, over 500 coats were donated and distributed last year.

Warm clothing is something most of us take for granted, but not all families are so fortunate—especially during this tough economic time.

"We had really good feedback from the schools, telling us they really appreciated that, knowing a lot of kids could really use winter clothing," she says.

Hensiak says banks and churches in Neillsville and Loyal will accept the donations of all sizes of coats, hats, gloves and snow pants. They should be new or in good condition. There will be two distribution dates. The first will be at the Neillsville American Legion on Saturday, October 30th from 10 to 2. The second will be at the Loyal High School on Saturday, November 6th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
