MOTORCYCLE RALLY RAISES $20K FOR HIGHGROUND

Ten years ago, a small group of motorcyclists got together for the 1st annual Ride to Remember Motorcycle Rally. Over the weekend, a larger group embarked on the ride.

"The initial ride was planned for September. It was just a fundraiser for The Highground and a way for motorcyclists to raise some money for The Highground," explains organizer Andy Rueth of Neillsville, "you know: 'how time flies.'"

Rueth says they’ve been successful, raising between $12,000 to $15,000 each year. That’s enough to pay for the Veterans’ Memorial’s light bill.

"Riders come from all over the state, you know, given good weather," Rueth says.

Rueth says our area’s rolling hills make for a scenic ride this time of year.

This year was even more successful than expected. 181 motorcyclists registered raising almost $20,000 for The Highground.
