GRANTON SCHOOL DISTRICT HOLDS ANNUAL MEETING

It’s budget time for area schools.

The Granton Area School District held their annual meeting last night; they are the first of the area schools to do so.

District residents approved a tax levy of $1.1-million dollars. While the final numbers won’t be known until later this fall, the tax rate is expected to jump from $10 to $11.

Superintendent Arnie Snook explained the district received $400,000 in federal stimulus money. That money is expected to dry up for the coming school year.

The district also lost around $169,000 of state aid because of open enrollment in the last fiscal year.

While district’s residents approved the levy last night, the tax rate won’t be known until the school receives their equalized property values from the state.

Neillsville will hold their annual meeting on August 31, Loyal’s will be September 13th and Greenwood’s is September 27th.
