ACCUSED MURDER NO LONGER IN CHARGE OF PARENTS' ESTATE

Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

A West Salem man accused of killing his parents for money won’t be able to manage their estate, but could still receive benefits.

Eric Koula allegedly shot his parents, Dennis and Merna, on May 21. Investigators believe he forged a check from their account the day of the shootings, and then deposited it in his account the day after.

According to court documents, the Koula’s daughter now has sole authority to manage and handle her parents’ estate. But, although Eric Koula is barred from accessing his parents’ assets, he could still benefit from their estate.

He would lose that right if convicted in the deaths.

Eric Koula returns to court Aug. 27 for a preliminary hearing.
