Wednesday, August 4th, 2010 -- 11:16 am
Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

Residents in Loyal suffered through a 10-hour power outage last night.

Xcel Energy says it was likely caused by a lightning strike. The power went out at around 11 p.m. when the substation in Loyal failed. About 853 customers were affected.

A very small number had power restored within 3 hours. The rest were without power until 9 a.m. this morning, when crews were able to switch them over to a mobile substation.
