FAVRE TELLING VIKINGS HE WILL NOT RETURN
Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010 -- 10:40 am
Posted by Larry Hoeser, Sports Director

Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports quarterback Brett Favre told Vikings officials last night he will NOT return for a 20th season. Zulgad says he is told that Favre has said his ankle has simply not responded and that is why he won't be back. NFL sources said the quarterback began informing Vikings personnel late Monday night that he has decided to retire for a third time. Favre's agent, Bus Cook, did not immediately respond to text messages, nor did Vikings officials. Favre also told the Vikings last year he wouldn't play for them but ultimately changed his mind and joined the team immediately after it broke training camp. Favre injured his ankle in the NFC championship, which the Vikings lost to the New Orleans Saints.
