MAP HIGHLIGHTS STIMULUS SPENDING

You want to see how government stimulus money is being spent? Rep. Ron Kind (D-La Crosse) today launched an interactive Google Map on his website to highlight American Recovery and Reinvestment Act projects in western Wisconsin and help ensure the transparency of the legislation. There are 1,075 projects reported in the Third Congressional District for a total of $322,303,839 in Recovery Act funds.
While many don’t believe the package is working, Kind notes the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) announced last week that unemployment dropped to a seasonally adjusted 7.9 percent in June, from 8.2 percent in May, a full percentage point lower than in June 2009 (8.9 percent), and its lowest point since February 2009.
