It sounds like customers shouldn’t see much of a difference, but there’s been a major buy-out in the phone and internet industry.

Frontier Communications, the nation's largest rural phone and Internet provider has purchased Verizon Communications' landline service in Wisconsin. The sale doesn’t impact wireless service.

The deal was finalized yesterday.

Frontier says they will retain all of Verizon’s employees and will not change customers' plans or fees.

Prior to its purchase, Frontier had about 58,000 customers in Wisconsin. The acquisition from Verizon added 250,000 new customers.
