STRATFORD MAN GOING TO PRISON FOR KILLING GIRLFRIEND

Eric Mayer, 29, was sentenced to 10 years in prison and five years extended supervision Thursday, after admitting he hit his girlfriend, causing her death.
According to court documents, Mayer told authorities he and Cynthia Tyler, 43, were arguing at the home they shared last April. Mayer says she kicked him, and then she hit her in the face.
He pleaded no contest to a charge of felony murder. He had faced 16 years behind bars.
