HIGH METAL PRICES BRING STRANGE THEFTS
Monday, May 24th, 2010 -- 11:36 am
Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

We’ve seen this in recent years: as the price of metal goes up, as it has recently, burglars go after whatever they can get their hands on.

A Thorp area farmer reported this weekend someone had taken the stainless steel pipeline right from his barn.

The theft was reported Sunday, but could have happened anytime from Wednesday through Saturday.

The barn was located on Oak Road, just south of Thorp.

We talked with the barn owner. He said the pipeline wasn’t in use at the time, but this might be a good warning for farmers to keep an eye out, as metal thefts are on the rise.
