ATHENS BOY DIES AFTER SCALDING

A 2-year-old Athens boy has died, four days after he was scalded by hot water.

Jeremiah Gossett was pronounced dead at his home in Athens Wednesday. The boy received medical treatment after he was scalded on his arm, neck and torso Saturday, according to the Marathon County Sheriff's Department.

Jeremiah was the youngest of 8 children in the Gossett family.

The Wausau Daily Herald says an investigation into the death is under way.
