OPELT TAKES 1ST IN WI RAPIDS, QUALIFIES FOR NATIONALS AND STARTING SPOT ON ALL-STAR TEAM

Phillip Opelt of Neillsville took 1st at 98 pounds in both the State Freestyle and Greco Wrestling Tournaments this weekend in Wisconsin Rapids which qualifies him for Nationals and a spot on the Wisconsin All-Star Team. The Nationals will take place in July at Fargo, North Dakota. Phillip also earned a starting spot on the All-Star team and will wrestle for Team Wisconsin in Rochester, MN June 17 - 20. Also wrestling from Neillsville this weekend in Rapids were Damian Luchterhand who finished 5th at 145 in Freestyle and 2nd in Greco. Damian could still be selected as an alternate for Nationals. Mike Chadwick who finished 6th in Freestyle at 119. In the Intermediate Level, Zach Smith took 5th at 75 pounds in Freestyle and 4th in Greco and Marshall Opelt finished 5th at 70 pounds in Freestyle.
