A train collides with a semi near Alma Center leaving animal parts strewn over the road, but both the driver and the conductor walk away unharmed.

It happened near STH 95 east of Alma Center around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

According to reports, a 41-year-old truck driver from Merrillann apparently didn’t notice the train as he was crossing the tracks on a dead-end road.

The 18-wheeler was dragged for several hundred feet, before the train was able to stop. The man worked for an animal by-products company, and his load spilled during the accident.

The train was traveling about 25-35 mph. Both operators were able walk away, but were taken to a local hospital as a precautionary measure.

The truck driver was cited for failing to yield.
