STATE ASKS FOR RECONSIDERATION IN MILLER CASE

The state has taken the first step in a process they hope will lead to a re-hearing, or appeal, in a case that could seriously jeopardize the legality of mandatory livestock premise registration.

On Friday, Clark County District Attorney Darwin Zwieg, on behalf of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, filed a motion for reconsideration in Wisconsin v. Miller Jr.

In that case, Clark County Circuit Court Judge Jon Counsell sided with an area Amish farmer who said the state law infringed on his religious beliefs.

A brief will be filed on Monday. A hearing has been tentatively scheduled for May 7th at 3 p.m.
