ROAD CLOSED AFTER CULVERT FIRE

A culvert fire has closed a rural road this morning.
According to Neillsville Fire Chief Matt Meyer, the Fire Department was dispatched at around 8 a.m. to the fire located in the Town of Pine Valley, on Maple Road, just off of Owen Avenue.
The property owner was burning his ditches Tuesday night. It appears some hot embers got in the culvert and started it on fire this morning. Experts say the new black, plastic culverts are susceptible to burning.
The crew spent about one-half hour on the scene. Maple road is closed from Owen Avenue to Fairgrounds Avenue.
