The Loyal man accused of burning down his girlfriend’s house in an attempt to get insurance money has waived his preliminary hearing.

According to the criminal complaint, Timothy Olson set fire to the home on USH 10, just outside the Granton village limits to get insurance money that would allow the couple to move in together.

Olson, who is free on a $5,000 signature bond, faces 40 years in prison and $100,000 in fines.

Through an attorney, Olson waived the preliminary hearing Monday and pleaded not guilty to the charge. The attorney also indicated he expected the case to be resolved without a trial, saying a pre-trial conference scheduled for May will likely become a plea hearing.
