A valued member of the Neillsville Police Department is being forced into early retirement because of health issues.

Ricco, the city’s police dog, will hang up the badge after 7 ½ years of service.

According to a press release from Chief Brad Lindner, Ricco suffers from Spondylosis, which causes the formation of bone spurs along the dog’s spine.

Ricco is an 11-year-old Belgium Malinois who has worked exclusively with Officer Scott Klueckmann.
