AL GUTHMAN TIES ALL-TIME WINS FOR GIRLS BASKETBALL

Owen-Withee head girls basketball coach Al Guthman matched the girls high school wins mark with 587 after his Blackhawks beat Loyal last night 61-44. Guthman is now third overall on the wins list, boys and girls coaches included. Guthman's teams back in the 80's were dominant in the Cloverbelt Conference. The Blawkhawks have been to State 7 times with the most recent one in 2005 where they lost to Barneveld in the Championship of Division 4. The Blackhawks head coach is now in his 39th year of coaching in his career. This year Owen-Withee is 18-3 overall and currently on a 13 game winning streak heading into their 2nd place playoff game on Saturday in Altoona vs. Eau Claire Regis. Owen-Withee finished 14-2 in the Eastern Cloverbelt.
