AREA SEX OFFENDER REMAINS HELD

A Greenwood man will not be freed as a Clark County judge continues his commitment for sexually assaulting two young children in the early 1990s.
According to the state Attorney General’s office, Judge Jon Counsell ruled that 43-year-old Kevin Gaetz remains a sexually violent person and poses a danger to the community.
Gaetz had petitioned for his release claiming that he is no longer a dangerous person, but prosecutors convinced Judge Counsell that Gaetz suffers from pedophilia and a personality disorder that predisposes him to engage in acts of sexual violence.
Gaetz will remain committed and will continue receiving treatment at the Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Center in Mauston.
