The numbers are in, and Wisconsin home sales in 2009 were slightly better than the year before.

The Wisconsin Realtors Association says there was a rally in the fourth quarter that helped push the final numbers above 2008. But, while homes were moving a little bit quicker, the median price of homes slipped about 7.7% from 2008, to $143,000.

There were 53,751 homes sold by realtors in the state last year, up less than 1% from 53,279 in 2008.

The group says the sales rally in the final period of the year was driven largely by people trying to take advantage of a tax credit of up to $8,000 for first-time homebuyers.

In Clark County, the median home price jumped about 4% in the 4th quarter to $78,750. The number of homes dipped 15% from 47 in 2008 to 40 last year. For the year, the median home price dropped 7.4% in the county from $81,000 in 2008 to $75,000 in 2009. Home sales dipped 2%.
