The City of Osseo is getting some government help to build a new downtown municipal building.

Governor Jim Doyle announced Monday that the Trempealeau County community will receive a $262,000 grant from the Community Development Block Grant–Public Facilities program of the Department of Commerce to help fund an 8,700-sq.-ft. building.

Construction of the building is already underway.

It will house a community/senior center, including space for meals and get-togethers, a city hall and police station, as well as provide a place for the local Historical Society to relocate their artifacts for display, storage and meetings.

Total project cost is $1.5 million.
