MARSHFIELD ARSONIST SENTENCED
Tuesday, January 26th, 2010 -- 3:08 pm
Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

A Marshfield man will spend a year in jail for setting fire to a vacant apartment building.

Last February, Micah Collins, 21, entered the vacant Central Avenue building and started a rolled-up carpet on fire.

During a sentencing hearing Monday, Collins blamed his actions on drinking and told the court he’s been sober for three months and is attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings three times a week.

A Wood Co. judge also sentenced Collins to 10 years probation and ordered him to pay $209,000 in restitution.
