MARSHFIELD POLICE CHIEF TO RETIRE
Thursday, January 14th, 2010 -- 11:09 am
Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

The City of Marshfield will get a new police chief soon.

According to the Marshfield NewsHerald’s website, Police Chief Joe Stroik announced his retirement Thursday morning at a special meeting of the Police and Fire Commission.

Stroik’s been the chief since 1998. He is a 29-year veteran of the Marshfield Police Department. His last day in the office will be in April.

The announcement fulfills a promise Stroik made to the department when he was hired. He told them he’d retire in 2010, and not to do so would be unfair for those with hopes of a promotion.

Representatives from the Commission say they plan to hire a new chief from within.
