Monday, November 16th, 2009 -- 2:38 pm Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director
A grass fire south of Neillsville turned into a house fire Monday.
According to fire chief Matt Meyer, his crew responded to the blaze at around 11:30 a.m. Monday morning. The property was located on Dyre Road in the Town of Levis.
It was initially reported as a grassfire, but the fire spread to the house, where it caused quite a bit of heat and fire damage to the lower floor. The fire originated near a burning barrel.
The crew spent about 1 ½ hours on the scene and received assistance from the Wisconsin DNR.
