UW EAU CLAIRE WRESTLING BEGINS SEASON AT LAKELAND DUALS

The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team opened up the 2009-10 season Saturday by competing in the Lakeland Duals. The Blugolds competed in five dual meets against the host school Lakeland College (Wis.), Trine University (Ind.), Concordia-Moorhead (Minn.), Milwaukee School of Engineering and Wabash College (Ind.). In the first dual match against Lakeland, the Blugolds were defeated 37-9. In the second match, Eau Claire fell to Trine 44-6. The Blugolds were beaten by Concordia-Moorhead 42-0 in the third match, then fell to Wabash 46-3 and finished the day losing a close match, 28-18 to MSOE. Against Lakeland, the Blugolds had two winners including Keith Dawson, a sophomore from Neillsville at 174, who defeated Chris Collins by a score of 7-4. Dawson also picked up a 5-1 win vs. Adam Chauklin of MSOE. The Blugolds will be back in action on November 21 when the team travels to Minneapolis for the Augsburg Open. The event is set to begin at 9 a.m.
