VANG MOTIONS DENIED

A Sawyer County judge says Chai Soua Vang alleged confession can be used in his trial. Vang has pleaded not guilty to shooting and killing six hunters near Rice Lake.

His attorneys asked the judge to bar the statement he made to investigators from the trial because they say Vang wasn't given the opportunity to talk to an attorney. But the judge says Vang's statements were made voluntarily, and none of his rights were violated.

The judge also ruled that Vang's trial won't be moved outside Sawyer County, but says he'll rule later on whether an outside jury will be picked. The trial is scheduled for September 12.
