A 79-year-old Chili man is in critical condition after his car was hit by a train in Marshfield Thursday night.

Authorities say it happened just after 9 p.m. at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Veteran’s Parkway.

Willard Geldernick’s 2000 Chevrolet Implala allegedly was parked on the railroad tracks when it was struck by an eastbound Canadian National train.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but Geldernick was cited for drunk driving.
