Clean-up continued Monday after a tornado ripped through Clark County Saturday. Damage estimates from Saturday’s violent weather are now approaching $600,000 in Clark County alone.

The National Weather Service has confirmed an F1 tornado jumped between Loyal and Dorchester – touching down in several locations. Clark County Emergency Management director Jennifer Lord-Kouraichi surveyed the damage on Saturday night.

"This guy had just built his archery shop (east of Loyal). He heard something so he came outside of the shop and was thrown several feet. His entire building ended up in the woods behind his house," Lord-Kouraichi says.

Elsewhere, pole buildings were destroyed, a barn was leveled near Dorchester and homes were damaged. Thankfully, no one was injured and no primary residences were destroyed.

Amy Holter and her boyfriend live outside of Loyal where the tornado is believed to have first touched down.

"It was grey and it was raining. The raining started to get harder, the wind came up a bit," Holter remembers. "I went to shut the windows and the wind just really hit."

Holter says they tried to get to the basement, but didn’t make it. The property sustained thousands of dollars of damage.

"My pole shed is completely gone, we had damage to our windows, farm machinery is damaged, all of our fruit trees in the backyard will have to be pulled out," Holters says.

The National Weather Service also detected circulation west of Neillsville, although no funnel cloud or damage was reported.
