POSSIBLE CHARGES IN FATAL ACCIDENT
Friday, September 4th, 2009 -- 11:33 am Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director
Clark County’s District Attorney is still waiting for accident reports before he decides if he’ll charge a 19-year-old Amish man, who was behind the wheel during a fatal accident.
According to past reports, 19-year-old Rudy Gingerich borrowed a neighbor's vehicle for a joyride. He didn’t make it far before crashing into a ditch on Sterling Avenue, between Greenwood and Mead Lake.
His passenger, 21-year-old Tobias Hershberger, was thrown from the vehicle and killed.
Gingerich suffered a head injury.
Gingerich wasn’t at the scene when authorities arrived. He returned two hours later and explained what happened.
According to a report in this week’s TRG, detectives are waiting for more information to come back from the car’s computer.
It’s possible Gingerich could face a charge of hit and run causing death.
