NEW PHONE CHARGE KICKS IN TUESDAY

A state-imposed .75-cent monthly fee for all cell phones, landlines or other devices capable begins Tuesday in Wisconsin.
The state plans to send the revenue to county and local governments to help support police and fire protection services.
But, they original money from the fee was also supposed to help defray the cost of 9-1-1 call centers, it was instead diverted to local governments to reduce pressure on raising property taxes.
