PLEA IN SIDIE CASE

A Hatfield man accused of murdering his wife and then hiding her body will not stand trial on the charges, but will instead spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Jackson Co. District Attorney Gerald Fox says he’ll accept a no contest plea from Doug Sidie during a hearing on Tuesday.

Sidie is expected to plead no contest to first-degree intentional homicide. Other charges will be read in.

State sentencing guidelines require a mandatory life prison term for those convicted of first degree intentional homicide. After 20 years in prison, a judge would get to decide whether or not to release Sidie under supervision.

Investigators say Sidie shot his ex-wife, Alisha, in the head just outside their Hatfield home.

He then reported her missing and even helped with the search for her body last November. He finally confessed to the murder and led authorities to Sidie’s body about one week after the search began.
