LACROSSE DOMINATES THE EXPRESS
Friday, August 7th, 2009 -- 5:34 am
Posted by Larry Hoeser, Sports Director

The La Crosse Loggers scored early and late to dominate the Eau Claire Express 11-2 in a much needed win for the Loggers. The Express are playing for home field advantage, but the Loggers have a little more at stake as they are trying to play their way into the playoffs. Eau Claire starting pitcher Chevy Tollefson (MATC) struggled early and only last three innings for the Express. He surrendered seven earned runs and allowed eight hits. The Express will travel to Madison tomorrow for a two game series before they return home. They will finish the season Sunday and Monday with a two game series against the Waterloo Bucks. The Eau Claire Express are eliminated from second-half contention but have already clinched their playoff spot by winning the first-half championship in the South Division. Picking up wins in these final four games (two at Madison and two versus Waterloo) will be crucial in their battle for home-field advantage in the divisional playoffs. They have clinched a possible advantage over Green Bay, Wisconsin and Waterloo, but currently trail La Crosse, Battle Creek, and Madison.
