AREA LAKE TO BE DRAINED

Officials are preparing to drain Chapman Lake in Stanley.
The lake’s dam is in-line for an upgrade, and workers may need the lake empty until 2011.
The entire dam, located beneath the County Highway O bridge, will be demolished and moved 70 feet east.
The new dam will be submerged and not visible.
The project will cost around $2.2 million – with money coming from both the city and the state.
