While we’re enjoying unseasonably cool temperatures, local soldiers serving in Iraq are experiencing anything but.

Lt. Col. Tim Donovan is in Iraq with the 32nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, including many troops from our area.

He says they’ve endured frequent dust storms and intense heat—sometimes reaching nearly 140-degrees.

While technically a combat team, many of the 32nd Brigade is serving in different capacities. Most are manning detention facilities.

The troops are about two-months in to their deployment. They expect to return home in January.
