GREENWOOD TO LOOK INTO CONSOLIDATION

--The Greenwood school board took a step toward conducting an in-depth study of consolidation with Loyal at a meeting this week.

Greenwood superintendent John Eitenmiller tells WCCN the school board agreed to conduct a consolidation feasibility study. A 10-member “ad hoc” committee would be formed with 5 members of the Loyal school district and 5 members of the Greenwood school district. Eitenmiller says the board would like to hire an outside mediator to run the meetings. The committee will be looking into the many different aspects of consolidation with Loyal.

The Loyal school board still needs to approve the plan; the issue will be on the agenda for their meeting next week.

If Loyal agrees, the committee will be formed this summer with meetings to begin in September. Eitenmiller says they will finish their study by the end of the 05-06 school year.
