PUB PILOT PROGRAM LAUNCHED
Wednesday, July 1st, 2009 -- 12:29 pm
Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

The city of Marshfield has a new service for bar patrons too inebriated to drive home.

The non-profit organization is called Pub Pilots. It will operate from midnight to 3 a.m. every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Marshfield has a taxi service, but it doesn't operate after midnight, when most bar-goers need to get home.

The service will have five drivers and is free for trips under ten miles.

Those needing a ride home can call 715-305-6877. Two Pub Pilots drivers will respond. One driver will drive the inebriated person home; the other will take the person's car home.

V & H Automotive donated a van and Vital Communications donated cell phones. The rest of the program is funded by a state grant.
