The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department has arrested a man they say shot at someone while under the influence of alcohol. The incident happened Tuesday. A Northbend resident called 911 when a trespasser began shooting at her husband. The victim, Scott Berg, told deputies he saw three men walking in a field next to his property – he believed the men were poaching turkeys. Berg attempted to take a picture of the men, who began to walk away. When the men were about 60 yards away, 45-William Menarek of Kenosha wheeled and shot at Berg. Deputies stopped the supect as he was leaving the area. He blew a .260 breathalizer, over three-times the legal limit. He’s being held for endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon, being armed while intoxicated and intentionally discharging a firearm at another person. He’s scheduled to make his first court appearance on Thursday.
